Happy Yuletart, zelempa!

Title: Fraser and Ray
Gift for: [livejournal.com profile] zelempa
Artist:  [livejournal.com profile] ria_oaks
Rating: G
Fandom: Due South
Warnings: None

Artist's Notes: You mentioned liking handmade art in your
request, so I decided to try drawing a romantic colour pencil portrait
of Fraser and RayK. Then I saw your letter and you said that you like
post-series arctic romance, so I added in their arctic clothing from
CotW. :) I'm very happy with it, but unfortunately colour pencil
drawings don't seem to scan that well so the scan doesn't really do it
justice... a lot of the colour got lost in translation, even after
fiddling with brightness/contrast. You are certainly welcome to the
original, however - you can contact me after the reveal so we can set
that up.

As a bonus, since the scan was rather disappointing and also because I
thought it'd be fun, I've also included a semi-digital version. I
blurred all the pencil crayon lines then painted over it a bit. I also
added back in the light blue background that the scan completely
eradicated... It was fairly quickly done, but I quite like it anyway.
:) Hope you enjoy, and happy Yuletart!
Summary: Fraser and Ray share a moment on the Quest.

Ooooooh! How sweet! :D The previous commenter is right--the hair is AMAZING--and I love the clothing folds and coat fur, too. Fraser looks so angelic. And I like how Ray looks simultaneously pleased and exasperated. You *know* Fraser is about to launch on an irritating, kiss-delaying fable. "Well you see, Ray..."

You're right, I do love me some handmade art. :D I hear you on the difficulty of scanning colored pencils, but I think I like the predigitalized version better! Are these Prismas? You're so good with them!

Thank you so much for this present! I'm really enjoying it. :)

Thank you! I'm really glad you like it. :) This was actually my first time doing a pencil crayon portrait so it was a challenge, but I had a really helpful book to walk me through what colours to use for skin/hair/etc. And I'm definitley happy with how it came out. And heh, interesting reading of the scenario! I hadn't actually thought of that, but I can see it...

Oh, and yes, they are Prismas, primarily. Might be a others in the mix because I have a bunch of coloured pencils from different places, but mostly Prismas.

Anyway, let me know if you want the original and I can arrange to send it to you. :)
