Artist notes: I like Martha because her following the Doctor began with a romantic crush, but she left on her own terms, a stronger woman. She promised to come back and I think they'll always be friends. In this picture, they mirror each other's stance and respect for each other -- but there will also be a distance between them. Painted in watercolor, I swear it looked more like Freema in the sketches, but her features washed out a bit in the coloring, since I'm a watercolor novice. They're still cute though. :-D This is my first time making Doctor Who fanart, which is ridiculous because I love the show -- so I was thrilled to see it listed for this fantastic fest. Enjoy!

Oh. OH this is LOVELY! I was just about to sign off for the night and saw that this had gone up!! I was super-excited to see that you'd picked Doctor Who, too.

I love watercolours, and I absolutely ADORE the TARDIS in this! And the Doctor looks GREAT and I love how Martha is standing up and facing the Doctor, not backing down. You can just see that hint of affection, too. ♥ It's wonderful, and I'm so glad you picked it!!

Your watercolor skills are lovely, novice or not! That's a very challenging medium--I can't deal with it--and you've used it to beautiful effect here. The shading is just lovely. I like the way you've chosen to do the TARDIS all in golden hues; the Doctor and Martha stand out quite effectively.

I also just love the feel of the piece: Martha finally getting the respect she deserves! There's a real sense of that here, of them facing each other as equals (of a sort, I suppose). Fabulous job!
