We Mods have discussed all of the suggestions and, based on your fantastic amount of feedback, here's a loose outline of what's in the future for yuletart.


To rehash:
~ We will be starting earlier
~ We decided that giving out extensions would be possible, provided the extension deadline is set in stone and there will be no wavering. We are considering a new method of lining up pinch hitters in order to make both their lives and our lives easier.
~ Everyone who has participate in 2007 is getting an automatic invitation and slot in the next Yuletart, should you choose to accept. For those concerned about other committments, we hope you might consider being a pinch hitter instead.
~ And of course, more reminders.

Some new stuff, based on your suggestions:
~ We will be adding a Yuletart watermark or (some subtle Yuletart indication) to your art for duration of Yuletart. We hope this will encourage more artists to participate, as their art though anonymous, will still be traceable to the comm and therefore not subject to being stolen.
~ We will be attempting to promote Yuletart off-LJ, on other fanart galleries.
~ There were a couple suggestions regarding posting time. Posting the art all at once, Yuletide style, might drown out some of the more obscure fandoms. However, we felt a shorter posting time would be viable. We don't have the details yet, but rest assured that it won't take a month to post the artwork this time around.

~ The most exciting news we have is the possibility of a separate pan-fandom fanart website to affiliate to Yuletart. The Mods have always wanted to have a forum and area on the web dedicated to fanart, from all different fandoms. We know there are places like DeviantArt, Y-Gallery and Elfwood, but we would like to concentrate solely on fandom and we will welcome all types of art: gen, het and slash.

This website will hopefully provide an area for fanartists to meet and discuss and get to know each other. If anything, Yuletart has opened everyone's eyes to the wide and incredible variety of fanart there is out there - in both style and fandoms. We hope our year-round website will generate interest for the next run of Yuletart.


So please stay tuned! The holiday fanart exchange may be over, but we will be keeping the LJ comm yuletart open during the year for announcements and further information regarding keeping our fanart community interactive and friendly.

And I stress - of course, we Mods can only set up the infrastructure. The rest will be up to you.

So I came here through the yuletide site, and was checking if this could be a challenge I could get into next year (it looks like it isn't, because I think my medium for art would be considered unacceptable, but I'll watch!), and I noticed something.

Shouldn't the fandom for this piece actually be Inu-Yasha?
