Art for Ieke85!

Title: The Frozen Charm
Gift for: [livejournal.com profile] ieke85
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] scatter_muse
Rating: G
Fandom: Stardust
Characters: Tristran and Madame Semele
Artist notes: I saw the movie a while ago and I can't quite remember if this part was the same in the movie, it definitely exists in the book though. The art style is semi-inspired by Charles Vess, but I used the actor as a model instead of the way Vess depicted Tristran.
Summary: Exchanging the glass snowdrop for transport to Wall.

THIS IS AWESOME!

I love how the frame is coming to life - the vines wrapping around it, the tree growing out of it, and is that Yvaine off to the side there? She's very ethereal and beautiful.

And the subject itself! Tristan looks awesome (I love the shine on his boots!) and I love the shadows in Madame Semele's skin. The sketchy quality is awesome, underneath the coloring.

Thank you, Mystery Artist! This is a great Christmas/Birthday present to end my day!

Eee! Fantastic! Now that I know who you are, I'd like to thank you personally, [livejournal.com profile] scatter_muse! As a sometimes-lurker in the fanart world, I've seen your name around a time or two. Thank you again for the wonderful art!

Oh wow, I'm in love with your style and how vivid the border and background are in comparison to Tristan and Madame Semele. Really love your interpretation.

Lovely! I can see the Vess influence, and Tristran, particularly, looks gorgeous.

So lovely! Great sense of motion, love the shading, and great expression on his face. Well done!

This is just gorgeous! I love the colors, and the linework, and the soft shading. The way the art and the frame interact is really cool, and I adore the little dancing guys up there in the trees.

This is gorgeous! It's really beautifully done!

you can certainly see The Vess inspiration apparent here as well as your own style. It is a great homage to his style and look. I really like the composition and the images in the border as well as the trees in the background. It's a wonderful piece.

Ooh, I like the way you've framed this. The little details around the doors are very nifty. I also really like the old woman's face.

[identity profile] glockgal.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 11:14 pm (UTC)(link)
So cool! I REALLY REALLY love how you drew the branches in the border and in the composition, all gnarled and growing in and around itself. It's absolutely fabulous and almost patterned and poetic, like if someone worked in reverse from stylised celtic knotwork into real branches. And I love how the border 'opens up' to reveal such a compelling wintry scene! Fantastic!

[identity profile] dualbunny.livejournal.com 2010-01-04 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
Really really beautiful piece. :} Your homage to his style is wonderfully imagined, and the soft sketchy style of your line work is the perfect touch.

Oh, how pretty and cold and soft this is! I am especially enchanted by the framing of the central figures, the twisty wood and half-obscured bird and elements of one spilling into the other. It's utterly fascinating!
