Giftart for nebst!

Title: Untitled
Gift for: [livejournal.com profile] nebst
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] bzzinglikeneon
Rating: G
Fandom: Being Human
Warnings: n/a
Artist's Notes: I'd intended for this to be an epic pastiche with multiple figures and a detailed background, etc, etc, but then…well, life and time got away from me, as they tend to do, so I had to pare down my vision. You didn't specify a favorite character or anything like that, so I settled on Mitchell, because 1) who doesn't love Mitchell? and 2) there are way worse things than looking at reference pictures of Aidan Turner for hours. I looked at various reference photos for the different parts of the picture (Mostly because I am pants at non-facial anatomy without a reference), but this is a full-on digital painting from scratch. I hope you enjoy it, and happy holidays!
Summary: Mitchell with one of Annie's many cups of tea.

Eee, Being Human fanart! :D He looks rather self-satisfied here - I have to wonder if it's more than just the tea! Also, your coloring is lovely and smooth.

The only thing that could improve this masterpiece is some fingerless gloves and something plaid.

I vote that the entire background be patterned with plaid fingerless gloves, fitted together like an Escher drawing.

A+. I'm thinking every picture in the world could benefit from a background patterned with plaid fingerless gloves, fitted together like an Escher drawing.

!!! Mitchell! Oh man, I didn't give a favourite character because I do love them all, but I have to admit I ... may have a particular fondness for angsty vampires who look like Aidan Turner. ♥

This is so gorgeous and soft! I love the earthen tones, almost chocolatey. (Or tea-coloured, I suppose!) :D The details in this are fantastic -- okay, my favourite bit is totally the chest hair peeking out of his shirt (SO HAPPY YOU INCLUDED THAT, hee), but also the swell of his forearm, his five o'clock shadow (!), the folds of his shirt, and the curve of his lips. There's something so relaxed and warm and sweet about this painting, it's really, really lovely.

And all of it for meee! :D Thank you SO MUCH!

Ooooh, I like how comfortable yet attentive his pose is, and how you really can imagine having some tea with him :D And the coloring job is wonderful-- the skin, of course, though I am also fond of his hair!

There's something especially lovely about the way you did his hands -- they look very *expressive*, somehow. Great job!

Lovely portrait! I like his little smirk. :)))

[identity profile] glockgal.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 08:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Heeee, love his snarky, almost careless smile that perfectly matches the morning-tousle of his hair and t-shirt (mmm v-neck t-shirts on guys = <3). The painterly style and the palette of browns really makes me think of portraits done in early 20th century; sort of realistic, but also sort of impressionist. I especially love your choice to cut off the teacup, making it a part of HIS life, but not so much a part of the portrait itself. Or maybe I'm reading too much into it. XD
