Artist's Notes: You said that "I dig the hell out of Batman/Gotham stuff, esp. crazy Gotham villains"... and so I sat down and thought about my possibilities. And then I decided to draw two of my own favourite DC villains - the Riddler and Two-Face :3 And I remebered the times of the old cartoon, when Batman villains were just evil and not psycho ^^" that's what I somehow tried to capture in this picture as well. So I hope you like your two villains :D

Oh, neat! I'm a sucker for that kind of framing device - an enclosed background with the characters standing outside it - and it just looks great. :D The misty moonlight effect is gorgeous. I also love the beautiful, deep shadows you have going on here, and your style of drawing faces (particularly around the nose and mouth). It's so dramatic without being grim and gritty, which is quite refreshing! (Although I must say, I don't really remember Harvey being that . . . sweet-looking as Two-Face, even back in the day. ;))

"Just evil and not psycho", ahahahahah! What a perfect description, and I think you captured that less-distressing version of the slightly (but not too) campy Gotham villains perfectly. The sidelong look from Harvey is especially effective. Very nice!!

And yeah... in my childhood the villains were just pure evil... and not "psychotic strangely maybe evil and only corrupted by the community" XD But I must admit I love the new versions, too... just childhood memories are so precious XD

Two-Face! One of my favorite Batman villains. I like this, the dramatic shadows combined with the moonlight and bats give it a good Gotham atmosphere. (Though it looks like Two-Face and Riddler to me? I assume the Joker mention was a typo?)

I do wish not everything was all relentlessly cliched grim 'n gritty and ~psychologically dark~ so this is ALREADY PERFECT! Idea-wise, that is. As for the actual piece, omg so BEAUTIFUL. I love the frame so much, I love the watercolour background, the BATS, but most of all omg their FACES

I love how you drew and painted the Riddler and Two-Face! Their eyes are so expressive and omg I keep looking at the eyesss. Actually I love the faces, I definitely need to hunt down more of your art when the reveals are up :D

The shadows are SO awesome. Am I right when I imagine there's a sort of question mark shape going on with the shading on Edward's face? And of course Two-Face's 'bad' side, so completely and poignantly obscured.

I love the promise of the bats in the background, and the bright full moon when they're out and plotting (or possibly implementing some evil scheme). Of the two of them, the Riddler definitely looks like he's taking the most genuine pleasure out of the evil deeds that're about to go down, which seems rather fitting. Harvey's expression seems almost torn, and I love that his bad side is hidden in shadow -- so appropriate! I also love how they've popped out of the background, it's one of my favorite framing techniques. Harvey's expression keeps drawing my eyes, and I want to know the story, I feel like I do know their story in this picture, just from looking at his eyebrow, his deep and concerned eyes.

HAAAA! I love this duo and I can't help but feel that this would have been in the beginning of their pairing up to wreak havoc on Gotham, when Two-Face is still assessing Riddler to see if he's worth his time. The deep dark colours are richly gothic and I love how unnerving it is that Riddler is staring straight at the viewer. *hides from him* Great stuff!
