Art for Moonytoes!

Title: Company
Gift for: [livejournal.com profile] moonytoes
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] loonylupinlover
Rating: G
Fandom: Harry Potter
Warnings: n/a
Artist's Notes: [livejournal.com profile] moonytoes mentioned in their journal that they really enjoyed some of the smaller details of the HP-verse, so I tried to gift them with a detailed drawing chock full of magical creatures and little things. Difficult for me as I'm normally a doodler, so I appreciated the challenge of creating something more detailed. Hope it's enjoyable!
Summary: Professor R.J. Lupin spends a late night in his office. Luckily he has some company.

Oh wow, this is such a fun picture to look at! So many details to keep your eyes wandering. :) I love the werewolf portrait in the upper left especially--just imagining what it must look like when it's moving! I wonder if he only transforms once a month, too. :) Very cool!

[identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com 2009-12-09 09:04 pm (UTC)(link)
*laughs* I loved that detail best as well, and that's such a cool idea! I bet you're right!

Wonderful picture, artist!

Thank you! That's a great idea about the werewolf portrait, if I ever write HP fic again I'll have to use that :)

Oh, I really like this! Such a lot of things to discover. :D

Lovely work! <3

[identity profile] nuclearsugars.livejournal.com 2009-12-09 08:34 pm (UTC)(link)
This is adorable, I love the amount of detail you were able to manage here without it looking too crowded. My favourite bit is the Christmas tree with the stitched on smile. Lovely work!

[identity profile] blienky27.livejournal.com 2009-12-09 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Icon twin!

And I love this - it's just as crowded and haphazard as I had imagined. And I love the... grindylow, right? in the tank. Nice eye for detail. :D

[identity profile] inknose.livejournal.com 2009-12-09 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
awesome idea!! Harry Potter has so many awesome creatures :D love all the tiny details - hahah I spy the Monster Book of Monsters XD

[identity profile] hlclark.livejournal.com 2009-12-09 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, how cute! I love all what's in the tanks and the evil-looking Christmas tree! Thanks very much! :)

[identity profile] chrismm.livejournal.com 2009-12-09 08:47 pm (UTC)(link)
This is delightful--so many cool things, and they're all well-balanced, they all fit just so in the space. So much fun!

This is cool. The DADA artifacts really add to the atmosphere.

Oh, this is so charming and nicely done! And it's packed with SO MANY little details. I think my favorite is what looks like the Monster Book of Monsters on the shelf near the DADA book. So neat! I also love brown parchment effect. It makes it feel like a sepia photograph, and makes your linework really stand out.

[identity profile] loonylupinlover.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
I love that so many people recognized the Monster Book of Monsters, hehe! Thanks so much :)

[identity profile] kittehkat.livejournal.com 2009-12-09 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, wow, the details are amazing! The thestrals in the art above Remus, the bone on display, the lake creature (is it a grindylow?), the Monster Book of Monsters, and is that a Bogart peeking out from the chest? Brilliant! It was like a hunt-and-find! So exciting! What a fun piece!

This is so charming, in its slightly creepy way! You certainly fulfilled your desire to get a bunch of detail in there, and it's like unwrapping a bunch of little gifts to search through the picture and find them all. Great job!

Now you have me curious as to where the bone comes from. This is a really cool composition and very character-revealing...

Ahh, awesome! And so cute. I love all the little details you've squished in. I can keep seeing new things each time I look it over.

The sheer amount of awesome little details in this is truly wonderful! Something to stare at happily for a while ♥ I really like the Thestrals picture, and the ...creepy smile on the Christmas tree XDD

Oh my gosh, this is amazing! The sheer amount of details you've put into this!

[identity profile] dualbunny.livejournal.com 2009-12-10 04:17 am (UTC)(link)
This is so much fun to explore! You did a wonderful job coming up with things to put in his office, and I love how cute some of them are, hee! :D (Like the adorable little dude in the fishbowl. *g*)

[identity profile] ani-bester.livejournal.com 2009-12-10 07:26 am (UTC)(link)
very nice. The detail works very well, really adds so much interest to the picture. there's so much to find and see in this. It's just amazing.

And I think the sepia tones was a great choice. I like the nostalgic feel the tones bring to the work.

This is so awesome.
So many details it makes me squee so much.

OMG is that the Necronomicon on the shelf?
It really is fantastic. I just want to sit there and have tea with Remus.

Ooh, awesome! :D I need to dig out my copy of Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them now so that I can properly identify all the beasties in this. ;) I love that kind of thing.

There are so many details to gush over (the tree! everything in the paintings! the critter peeking out of the trunk! the Monster Book of Monsters looking all sad!), but one of my favorite things about this is the overall sense of environment. You've really filled out the space and made the atmosphere (of quiet, because Remus just looks so closed-down, but also of course of eccentric variety) tangible. I find that most impressive. :)

[identity profile] wensleydale.livejournal.com 2009-12-10 04:01 pm (UTC)(link)
haha@the evil christmas tree/ent!

[identity profile] demoerin.livejournal.com 2009-12-10 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
The use of detail is much appreciated over here, too. Are those thestrals? Any rate, I love 'em, and also the best little Christmas tree ever.

[identity profile] loonylupinlover.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
They are indeed thestrals! :) Thank you!

[identity profile] karasu-hime.livejournal.com 2009-12-10 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
I like all the subtle details in teh background and it's certainly interesting to look around!
Wonderful snapshot of Remus.

Oooh! I'm a total sucker for all the little details of the HP 'verse as well, so this is right up my alley. :D And there's so much to discover in this; I see new things every time I look at it. Love the creatures in the tanks (the little ladybug thing! hee), but my favourite is the werewolf painting. I think that's got a fairy tale quality to it, almost.

And man, Remus looks so dejected and lonely amidst all the fabulous magical things. Makes you just want to bring him a nice cup of tea and some chocolate (and possibly hug him forever).

[identity profile] dramedy.livejournal.com 2009-12-11 01:46 am (UTC)(link)
so detailed and my eyes keep looking for new things! It's stunning and must have taken ages! WELL DONE!

[identity profile] novembersmith.livejournal.com 2009-12-11 07:39 am (UTC)(link)
I adore this! It really captures the imagination and makes you want to invent stories for everything, for the werewolf portrait and the bone on the wall and the presents beneath the tree. Just really, really lovely -- oh, MOONY.

[identity profile] jenzay.livejournal.com 2009-12-14 05:45 am (UTC)(link)
Lovely drawing! There's so many things to see and to look for. The subtle sepia tones are perfect for this piece, too.

[identity profile] werewolfsfan.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Wonderful, creative idea and great execution! I'll be pouring over this in wonder forever!

awesome!!! such fantastic details! the fish monsters are my fav. :D

[identity profile] rane-ab.livejournal.com 2009-12-20 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, I love the creatures he's surrounded by. They're all so lovely and quirky and interesting. The Christmas tree is a wonderful touch!

Oh wow, I love all the details of the creatures! This is such fun. Every time I look at it I see something new, like the face peeking out inside the trunk and the tail that protrudes from behind the DADA textbook. Great work :-D

[identity profile] summerpostcards.livejournal.com 2009-12-26 12:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Lovely. I love all the little details you specifically put in here. And Remus! Remus! I just want to hug him and never let go.

That's lovely -- such wonderful details. :-)

[identity profile] glockgal.livejournal.com 2009-12-31 04:45 pm (UTC)(link)
omg there are so many cool things to look at in this! I LOVE seeing all the creatures and knick knacks and all the hustle-bustle crowded things that make the HP world so vivid and lovable. The little Christmas tree is so happy and bless, but for me I think that unicorn with teeth in the painting TOTALLY WINS. HAAA!

I love it!! so many wonderful things in his office. But he still seems lonely, despite all those pets.
