Yuletart 2009!

It's that time of year to get yuletart up and running! I know, so soon, right? How time flies.

ETA - while we are happy to have more people vote in the poll below, we've used the current results to proceed with our policies for Yuletart 2009. You can now read the revised FAQ for 2009!

In regards to the feedback we received from Yuletart 2008, we've kicked off this round with a poll about the fest. Remember - this gift exchange is for you and your enjoyment! We had so much fun last year and we hope to make it even more fun for everyone in 2009.

The poll questions are based on suggestions from participants. Please take some time to fill it out and we'll be getting back to you soon with an updated FAQ and further details. Thanks everyone! Looking forward to your art!

As for Harry Potter: I love it and all, but we've had kind of a nice balance of fandoms so far, and there are still any number of relatively obscure fandoms dear to my heart that I would love to see make an appearance. If we let in HP, I have the strong suspicion that we'd be overrun. :/

I KNOW, RIGHT?? I was surprised to suddenly realize it was August. Crazy stuff!

The Mods were considering HP-integration mostly because the HP fandom has recently decreased dramatically in size/production - and therefore it's less likely that fanartists will go for it, if that makes sense?

We definitely don't want it to be overrun either!

In fact, that's pretty much why we were considering bringing HP in the first place. Because even though (current) fanart production for ST isn't as much as HP during its heyday, it's still really prevalent from ST:Reboot's created such a creative fandom, so yeah. :D

As a total newbie to this comm/fest I don't know exactly what to expect, but it sounds exciting. :D

As for HP fanart, it has been receding like Draco's hairline, at least canon/non smutty fanart. It would be nice to see some real art, not only NWS pics.

Is there any chance there will be BBC Merlin fanart? (Or Barron Merlin, for the matter!) :)

So very charmed to have discovered this place and looking forward to whatever will come.

The sort of art we get depends entirely upon what people ask for when they sign up, but I would be very surprised if we didn't get some Merlin art, as it has a very active, art-friendly fandom.

I for one would really like to see some HP fanart on LJ again. Honestly, I think the fanart action in HP fandom has decreased so much in recent years (largely due to Merlin and the Star Trek reboot, as far as I can see, which is perfectly acceptable to me :D) that the risk of yuletart being overrun would be small. I don't even know if I'd request HP, honestly, but I'd quite like to draw it.

I think that what with it being two years since the last book came out, HP fandom has really cooled down enough that it won't totally take over if you guys include it. And even if a lot of people did go for it, I'd like to see people get excited about HP again anyway :)
