Giftart for Oxboxer!

Title: Star Gazing
Gift for: [livejournal.com profile] oxboxer
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] raistleen
Rating:: G
Fandom: Batman Universe
Characters: Dick Grayson and Jason Todd / Nightwing and Red Hood
Warnings: None
Artist notes: Hey Jemma =D I know you wanted some badass action, but I just couldn't draw something that looked good, so I came up with this cheesy-nonslash-stargazing scene. I did as you told, had MUCH fun with this piece, even if I don't know what you meant with mooshy 8D Thanks for introducing me to Red Hood! Didn't pay much attention to him before. I hope you enjoy this, as much as I enjoyed looking at your amazing artworks!

I include a bigger version, I planned this to be Wallpaper-sized 1034x768, so I'm sending both files.

Love it! normally I see that stylized pictures suffer from using textured layers, but this is just right both in background and for the characters.

I like this picture very much! There's so much life in Nightwing's and Red Hood's expressions. Love the background too, with the starry sky and the bat symbol :)

oh nice! I like the background and the coloring!

Oh wow, the textures... this is marvelous. I don't know the fandom, but I love your style.

This looks great! The texture to the image really gives it a unique feel.

Ooo I love these two! This is absolutely stellar. It's stylistic and whimsical, and the colors are sooo lovely.

The stylized look of their hair fits the whole Gotham art deco thing *perfectly*; I also really like the way that their domino masks look, and the effect you got on the batsignal is fascinating! The shadowy overlapping buildings and pinprick stars completely set the mood and round out the whole thing. Marvellous!

The styling of this is spectacular! I think the highlights in their hair are my favorite part.

This looks intensely cool! Love what you did with the background and the STARS. And how Red Hood is gazing upwards (jawline mmmmh)

My gut reaction to this is, "So that's what Bruce Timm-style Jason would look like!" Awesome.

This is just *gorgeous*! You did such an amazing job with the background -- so shimmery without being overly glittery for a place as grimily urban as Gotham -- and their HAIR OMG. You captured their personalities as much with their hair as their expressions and positions, *and* your highlight style is so unique and well-suited to their shiny dark hair...

::falls over in awe::

<333 !

*Wow*. This is gorgeous, and really, just the sort of thing I'd want to put on my *wall*. You can really feel a sense of *peace* here, of brothers working out their issues and getting ready to work out those issues on other people. It's really just *stare*-worthy, and the stylized look works brilliantly.

It's less of an icon than... hmmm... well, no, icon totally works, because I could see this as a stained-glass window somewhere. Or perhaps I just want to worship a bit. Brothers! Whee!

GAH, this IS the perfect wall hanging, the style is just gorgeous and I love the sharp crisp funky style! I also love the unique background, city scapes get boring sometimes, this is gorgeous!!! I am missing my main man, but I like his symbol overall ;-) WELL DONE!!

[identity profile] glockgal.livejournal.com 2009-01-02 04:28 am (UTC)(link)
Eeee I love the retro mod texturing and flatness of this - it's so graphic and powerful in a very 50's poster style, which is so gleeful! Not to mention how sweet Nightwing looks with his long badass hair, and Jason with his spiky white-streaked hair. *hee* So similar and so different and so awesomely drawn!

Cute! Very anime style.

[identity profile] mangagirl.livejournal.com 2009-01-02 11:31 am (UTC)(link)
I really love the atmosphere you achieved here, with the colors and textures, and the composition hinting towards the dynamic between Dick and Todd. Very good job :) I cant' wait for reveals to start stalking you ;)

[identity profile] sheepfairy.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, did you do this on textured paper or something? Because it looks amazing, and I love the colors - their skin tones against the dark blue-green of the sky looks fantastic. And I like your shading style.

[identity profile] dualbunny.livejournal.com 2009-01-10 08:46 am (UTC)(link)
I love how the textures you used make the line drawing feel so solid--it's so crisp and fresh looking. :)

Oh, nicely done! Very interesting style, and lovely background.
