Wow, this is more than I expected. It has a watercolor feel to it, and I love that Pan's wearing the oversized coat. The pose and the color of this piece is my favorite! Many thanks to the artist!! :D

Peter's expression is is absolutely priceless. I'm not sure what you were going for, but to me it reads very much as 'peter post book', which is awesome. And you did a great job on the fairy--both dainty and playful.

That is such a cute pose and expression on Peter's face. The sword is great, and I rather like the fairy (also a very cute pose)

I’m so glad you liked the pic, thank you! :)

[identity profile] gardendoor.livejournal.com 2008-12-27 09:44 am (UTC)(link)
Wow! I love the details of the greatcoat, and the way he seems sturdy and authoritative despite it swallowing him up. And the seaweed is a great touch. Nice job all around!

[identity profile] dun.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 03:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I wanted to make the coat look like Peter was really disappearing into it, so I drew a huge collar, but when I checked some books on historical costume for reference, I realised coats of the ‘pirate’ type didn’t really have collars (early 18th century) and collars only became common on men’s coats in the late 18th century! But I decided not to change it – I mean, who dictates what pirate fashion is like in Neverland anyway ;)

[identity profile] dun.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 03:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I was really happy I got to do Peter Pan, as I’ve always been fascinated by the story. There are so many possibilities for different interpretations for Peter’s character. Thank you!

[identity profile] rasetsunyo.livejournal.com 2008-12-28 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh this is utterly gorgeous, I love Peter's expression and the softness of the whole piece.

Paired with the quote, this is pretty much PURE AWESOME. Utterly fairytale-ish, but with that slight disturbing edge of Peter Pan; I love every detail, from the blobby seaweed to the discarded hat, the texture of the rocks and the oversized coat with its buttons and braiding. Plus the fairy! I love how elemental and kind of unsettling it is. There's not one part of this picture that doesn't instantly convey exactly the mood it should. What stunning work!

[identity profile] dun.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
You’ve written such a nice comment on my art piece, thank you! You are right about there being a slightly disturbing side to Peter, the way he’s written in the books. Something I didn’t catch on to when I was small ;) So, I did my best to convey it in the pic. I’m particularly pleased that you liked the fairy, I wanted to make it quite ‘insectoid’ but still recognisable. Thanks again for commenting! :)

[identity profile] tylercat.livejournal.com 2008-12-29 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
I love how Peter looks so worn out and peaceful.

[identity profile] dun.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! :)

[identity profile] kaiserkuchen.livejournal.com 2008-12-29 01:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh wow ♥ I'm simply in love with his oversized coat and the glint on the sword and his wee feet, ahh! Lovely pic!

Heh, I had such a fun time doing this pic, I’m so happy you enjoyed it, too!

[identity profile] glockgal.livejournal.com 2008-12-31 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
There is so much that is glorious about this, I hardly know where to begin. I love the linework, so delicate and whimsical and yet every line has a purpose and a personality. I love the light, pale, misty colouring, which only adds to the whole childlike fantasy of the piece. I love the fairy (Tink?) who is everything a fairy should be - unnatural, freaky, primal. I ADORE Peter, who is perfect, complete total Peter - his slumped, insouciant sitting, his splayed out toes, the way he's completely swimming in Hook's coat, the utter dampness of his hair and best of all, his expression. I am completely enamoured with his expression! I'm Wendy and I'm completely in love right now.

Paired with the quote, it all pulls it together that this is one helluvan old school, unforgiving and highly metaphorical fairy tale. My goodness. It's just so perfect, I love coming back again and again to look at it. It was an honour to post this for Yuletart!

[identity profile] dun.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 03:44 pm (UTC)(link)
I felt very lucky to get this particular prompt, as it gave me the chance to get a new look at Peter. And he was not really at all how I remembered him from when I was small ;). It’s interesting that you wrote that you felt like Wendy. Peter does indeed look directly at the viewer, but it of course remains ambiguous who that viewer is. I’m really glad you liked the picture and how it turned out, because it was so much fun for me to do! And for once the end result wasn’t that far from how I imagined it in my mind ;). Thank you very much :)

[identity profile] grendelity.livejournal.com 2009-01-01 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that's cute. I love that coat.

[identity profile] dun.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 03:54 pm (UTC)(link)
I made up the coat myself and it’s perhaps not historically accurate, but it makes Peter look small and that’s the main thing ;)

[identity profile] aybara-max.livejournal.com 2009-01-01 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
THIS. PICTURE. IS. FABULOUS. and the wicked tricksy fairy is gorgeous, worth the trouble ^_^ I adore the messy hair and huge coat and the gorgeous sword hilt... The pose AND THE TEXT O.O Just, wow...WOW such a beautiful snapshot of a character. ((takes a few more hours to appreciate the splayed little toes and the ankles, the HUGE buttoned coughs, the fabulous hat THAT I WANT...)) You win at life. WELL DONE.

[identity profile] dun.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! Heh, it’s not a fairy I’d like to meet on a dark night, small or not ;) I’m so glad the picture speaks to you, I really had a great time doing it!

[identity profile] mangagirl.livejournal.com 2009-01-02 11:24 am (UTC)(link)
This is fantastic, I adore how Peter looks so absolutely boyish and yet has the contrast of all the adult things around him.

[identity profile] dun.livejournal.com 2009-01-06 03:55 pm (UTC)(link)
*is happy* thank you!

[identity profile] sheepfairy.livejournal.com 2009-01-07 05:16 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, this is great! I love how much of his character you managed to get into a picture of him, and I love the colors.

[identity profile] dun.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 09:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you, I'm so happy you liked it - I really enjoyed drawing it :)

[identity profile] bitbitbot.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
oh, that's so lovely! i always thought peter pan was a really dark story, and this picture has such a great and subtly bleak brightness to it.

also, the seaweed is fantastic <3

[identity profile] dun.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! It was interesting to read the book again. There were some disturbing elements in it that I really didn't get as a child, but at the same time there's so much to the story. So it was a lot of fun to do :)

[identity profile] elynross.livejournal.com 2009-01-11 04:43 am (UTC)(link)
This is wonderful -- the composition, the detail, the colors! I love how the coat swallows him. *g*

[identity profile] dun.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, the super big coat. *g* I'm really glad you like the picture!

[identity profile] dualbunny.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
I adore this--everything about it is just so perfect for the book, and your illustration style is wonderful. :}

[identity profile] dun.livejournal.com 2009-01-18 09:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I did think of it a bit like a book illustration. I even considered adding text, but didn't in the end. I'm so glad you liked it!

[identity profile] adamaddiction62.livejournal.com 2009-07-15 08:57 pm (UTC)(link)
This is beautiful. I collect all the is Peter Pan. Your work is brilliant!!

[identity profile] dun.livejournal.com 2009-07-16 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you very much! I love everything Peter Pan, too! :) Perhaps you’re familiar with the French comic artist Loisel’s Peter Pan series. My Peter was to some extent inspired by that series, at least wrt to Peter’s attitude.
