HAPPY YULETART, Leyna55!

Title: Blood of Kings
Gift for: [livejournal.com profile] leyna55
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] gardendoor
Rating:: G
Fandom: Highlander
Characters: Methos
Artist notes: As soon as I saw "Methos" and "Mucha," I had to take this prompt. Not sure I quite got the Mucha style, but I think this is a nice rendition of the old man. And, as a bonus, before I do any large work, I do a couple of quick sketches first, one of which seemed good enough to share. Enjoy!

*Wheee!* Thank you very much! I'm very impressed with your ability to catch Methos' likeness in this style. Both versions are so clearly him - and very well done. The colour scheme is great, and the background is very suitable for the Old Man. Very cool title, too, Nicely ambiguous *g*.

Thank you for the bonus pencil sketch. I love seeing how artists work and the sword in his hand adds an extra (Highlander) dimension to his alertness. I love his expressions in both - like he has just sensed another immortal.

Thank you so much! I wanted to give him a really quiet, timeless feel, because there's so much going on under the surface of the man. I'm so glad you liked your present; it was a real treat to work on.

HI, METHOS, HI!!! I LOVE YOOOOOOOOOOOOOU.

Um. ::coughs:: That's lovely. I love the ruins in the bg that don't really give away the year he is in, but make it look like he could be in any year at the same time. If that makes sense. XD I like him randomly leaning on his sword in the line art as well. ♥

Thank you! I really wanted ruins for a timeless feel, but also because he's such a survivor. I wanted a sense of him watching, unchanged, as civilizations rise and fall.

Love the background and I'm envious of your placement of folds in the clothing, it's so well done!

Oh, thank you! I give credit for the folds to choosing good reference photos, but yeah, I'm really, really proud of how this baby turned out.

Oh, thank you! He's got such a fascinating face to draw; I'm really pleased that the likeness came through!

Thank you! I'm really pleased with how it turned out.

Heee, I totally love his expression in the coloured one. It's so like "Hmmmph, do I have to go do the fighty-choppy thing again?" *hee!*

*snicker* "Work, work, work. Can't we just use the swords to open beer cans, get plastered, and figure it out in the morning?" (By which time, of course, he's left the country...)

Thank you! Mwah!
