Wow, I love your minimalist style! You show so much with so few strokes! The snuggly babies are adorable and Kurt really is a badass! X) Nice!

It looks like 'anonymous' didn't read the rules very carefully.

From the Yuletart rules:
For this exchange, art is defined as traditional art created from the ground-up by the artist ("fine" art, whether done in traditional media or via computer), as opposed to graphics, icons, photo manipulations and the like. We will not accept graphics or manips.

THIS is almost certainly using a filter--placing it in the 'manip' section.

Now I know that it's hard to get all the art in on time, but if you are in this just to get sweet sweet delectably drawn FANART and are not willing to draw something from scratch yourself? Don't sign up. Sign up for the fanfic exchanges, because at least if you can manage your way around the internet, you can write fic (and I've nothing against fic--it's just more accessible for everyone to participate in it).

Or...instead of two manips you take that time and hand-draw one regular pic? Just a thought.

It looks rather like vector art (which is in itself extremely difficult to do well) rather than just straight manipulation. And yes, vector art is usually based closely on a photograph, so it can sometimes get confusing, but it is a legitimate type of art. Some fine examples can be seen in DA's vector section and often pop up as Daily Deviations. Besides, I doubt it would have been let through if someone had thought it didn't fit the guidelines.

Could be vector, I guess, but it looks like filter-->artistic-->cutout to me.

A far as I can see, the artist didn't put any of her work on DA in the 'vector' category (she labels them 'drawings'). Although there appear to be some hand-drawn elements (Nightcrawler's tail + smoke), these images look like they were started by filtering a photo, not created from the ground-up by the artist.

I'm not saying this is a bad way to make a picture, just that it isn't how it was supposed to be done for this event.

I could be wrong. Maybe the mods decided it was okay.

You found her on DA? Wow, way to be anonymous.

I agree with you on the look of the Nightcrawler piece, but I think that the Ouran one definitely *looks* vectorized, and as it seems to be the main submission, well...yeah. Where was I going with this sentence? Hail to the mods, probably.

The DA link was left in the picture.

Yeah, just got that. Mah bads.

nvm: there's the big DA label on it. I am attentive today.

This comment is completely inappropriate. If you had a problem with the art, the appropriate thing to do would have been to drop the moderators a note about your concerns, not to call the artist to the carpet in a public forum.

The twins are so sweet, and I've always been a huge Nightcrawler fan, so this was lovely to see!

Yowza! Two! I was totally not expecting that XD. And X-Men: Evo may not have been in my top choices, but I am forever in love with Kurt! Thank you! Totally cool way to end the weekend!

The poster-style composition of the second one is fantastic.

Both of them are really good - but Hikaru and Kaoru definitely win. How cute and sweet they are! :D

Nightcrawler is so awesome man. Love the action and the graphic art look of him so much!
