I do have to admit I traced the background from a photo I took at a temple in Japan this summer, and utilized Photoshop's perspective-adjustment thing to get the screen on that side wall right in the sketch. XD

Wow. This is simply amazing although that really does not do it justice at all.
This picture really captures what I like about Hinata. Your artwork is beautiful from the background to the shading and everything else. I think what I love most about it is that its traditional rather than digital art.
I'm so grateful that you did this piece for me. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!

Re: media. Well, it's both traditional and digital. XD I first did it as pencil on watercolor paper (http://www.magatsu.net/pic/Hinata-Pencil.jpg), then scanned it and colored over the pencils using Painter's watercolor tool, in Yet Another Attempt [TM] to get it to replicate real-world watercolors.* I didn't get quite what I as looking for, but it's good nevertheless.
Although, as per usual, what I prefer of all the versions is the original sketch (http://www.magatsu.net/pic/Hinata-linework-early.jpg). XD
* This would probably be easier if I actually knew how to do real-world watercolors.
