Happy Yuletart, zephre!

Title: My Last and Best Reason
Gift for: [livejournal.com profile] zephre
Artist:  [livejournal.com profile] yue_ix
Rating: General
Fandom: Merlin BBC, fusion with Ladyhawke (and The Secret of Kells)
Artist's Notes: Happy Yuletart, Zephre! I wanted to include at least one of your Wildcards fandom into one fandom from the Set List. It ended up including them both to some extend instead, so I tried to meet some of your requests for each of them. I hope that was all right with you. <3
Summary: At the end of their story, both Merlin and Morgana are cursed to turn into animals. Human by day, Morgana turns into a wolf at night, while Merlin is human at night but bound to trees as his namesake by day. They find ways to communicate through earth magic and bond; from there on, they travel together incessantly until, one strange day, they manage to break the curse.

WOW! This is awesome! What a great fusion - and incredibly beautiful! I first saw this on a break at work on my netbook but I had to get home to my big screen to really appreciate it fully.
The details are wonderful - the trees and twisting branches and mountains that are straight out of The Secret of Kells, and the wonderful costume touches and animals. I am floored! :D

Thank you, thank you, mystery artist!

Super cool! The fusion idea is awesome! You've done a great job with the Kells bits ... I really like the sword and scabbard used to frame the top and bottom. Yay!

Great linework! Amazing detail on the animals and background.

I love the cleanness of the art, and the story behind this. It's rather adorable how they're interacting with each other's animal selves.

I love the concept of the fusion. Great idea! The design is lovely, particularly all the background and clothing details, and the framing. I really like their faces and expressions, and how they are looking at each other (and the wolf and hawk, too)

[identity profile] roga.livejournal.com 2010-12-16 07:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh wow, so beautiful and rich with details! The animals, their clothes (Morgana's coat!), the feathers and her hair and the frame you put them in :-) Also I'm always in awe when people manage to draw with so few lines faces that actually resemble the actors.

[identity profile] glockgal.livejournal.com 2010-12-17 08:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Oooh this is such a beautiful ink illustration! I love how well it fits into British lore/mythology in terms of the style and patterns and general look of it - and then there is so much affection shared between Morgana and Merlin. <3

I love how you did all the texture detailing - the whorls of their hair, the stippling shading, the curlycues and line widths really make for a beautiful composition!

Wow, I love this. You've really nailed the sense of place here.. and the detail in their clothing says a lot, too. (And the fraaaaame, nice!) Very magical!

My jaw just dropped. I can't believe how much texture and movement and symbolism you fit into that space. Definitely going to rec this.

Oh dear gosh I LOVE the line work here. It's so smooth and graceful and detailed. Wow!
