I love the lighting and the composition of it. There is some really fine linework. The coloring and the faintly texture are nicely done and works well with this piece.

I absolutely love your linework and the shading on this. The whole thing feels like that small, short beat before everything springs forward at an almost break-neck pace -- you really managed to convey a moment in time perfectly.

Wow, that's just stunning! Love the face, the shading, the floatiness of the hair and tie, the look of wonderment, it's all good.

OH MY GOD ANON THIS IS PHENOMENAL. I am seriously in awe, this is so good. Your lines are so confident and smooth and the colors! I love how bright and lively it is. I also really like that you chose blue for his hair and gave him such cute, distinctive clothes, because you really owned this and made it your own style. Of course I don't mind that it's not a group picture, it's perfect as is. I also love beautiful beautiful portraits. :) And I really like that you chose this fandom because I love both Diana Wynne Jones and Miyazaki a lot so it's like a double whammy of enjoyment. Thank you, thank you, I'm going to stare at this all day long. :)

Oh, wow. Your linework is fantastic. I really like the way you've coloured it, too -- the subtle gradients and textures are gorgeous.

[identity profile] chrismm.livejournal.com 2009-12-31 06:17 am (UTC)(link)
&hearts So much movement, especially in such a close up piece! And the line work is just perfect. It almost has a wood-cut feel, which makes the movement even more awesome.

[identity profile] ani-bester.livejournal.com 2010-01-01 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Amazing. I love the lighting her,e it really creates a magical look and feel to the whole thing, along ith the floating tie. Great touch for added movement and again magic.

This is so nice.
Also, there's something about the eyes that truly makes this come alive.

Oh, that's very pretty! I love the way his tie is lifting as well as the hair- it really adds to the feel of the piece.

I am so madly in love wit this - it is glorious in so many ways. Love the close-up of Howl, it projects him into such a compelling yet vulnerable way. The perfect almost unearthly perfection of his features just makes me want to stare forever, he's so easy to fall in love with. Love how you drew his eyes and the detailing of his ears and the little smile playing on his lips ksjdfhjf it's all so delectable. Love how you use the little lines to denote the shadows under his chin and his hand. Everything is so soft and rounded and just childlike magical.

I think one of my favourite parts of your style/technique is how you drew his hair, particularly at the back of his head - the blund cut and the flying about strands are just gorgeous and so well-drawn.

Oh man, I could keep going with how much I love this, I really could, but my words do no justice. Gonna just stare and fall in love again. <3

Ooh, I don't know how I missed this being posted, but it's really lovely. The coloring is so delicate and the lighting so perfect. I especially love the way his eyes, lips and the tie turned out.
