Your painterly colors and handling of such are just beautiful. It's very dramatically lit, too, which is something I really like. ♥

Holy shit, this is phenomenal; it looks like an old painting, the colors are so great and the cherubic little faces! Also, I love knitting, so this just brings me glee in general. :)

wow.... I am stunned! no idea about the fandom, but it looks like a classical painting! it has such a serious mood to it. gorgeous job.
ext_14568: Lisa just seems like a perfectly nice, educated, middle class woman...who writes homoerotic fanfiction about wizards (KKM - Gwendal w/ stuffed kitty)

Eeeeee! Gwendal and Greta! Gorgeous work - the colors, the lighting! And Gwendal!!! ♥ ♥

I don't know this fandom, but the light and shadow and cloth exture is amazing.

OH MY STARS THIS IS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL THING EVER. I love the style you used! And Gwendal and Greta OMG OMG ♥!!!! One of my favorite Gwendal moments is when he's bitching Gunter out for bothering him when he's trying to work and Greta comes in all shy and he's like, 'OH GRETA YOU CAN STAY.'

[identity profile] lady-ganesh.livejournal.com 2009-12-25 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
It's BRILLIANT because the world KKM is set in is very ripoff-European, so this art style just suits it so well. (Official art in the icon.)

I have no idea about the fandom at all, but I totally love this! It looks so professional and beautful!

[identity profile] marksykins.livejournal.com 2009-12-25 04:45 am (UTC)(link)
Oh gosh, this is gorgeous. Greta's so adorable!

[identity profile] kittehkat.livejournal.com 2009-12-25 07:31 am (UTC)(link)
Wooow, absolutely wonderful! The colors emerging from the shadows are amazing, and the highlights really pop to make this spectacular. Great piece!

Love your style!

Aww, that's really cute! And I also like the lovely colours and the shading. :)))

Oh, I love the light! And everything looks so soft and muted and peaceful!

[identity profile] kaiserkuchen.livejournal.com 2009-12-26 02:33 pm (UTC)(link)
I laughed at the warning and am now AWWWWing at the sheer cute of this scene. Love the lighting and the coloring choices, and I keep staring at Greta and Gwendal's hair ♥

I don't know the fandom, and I don 't know if the scene is intended to be creepy, but it is! In a very, very gorgeously drawn way :)

[identity profile] hamburger.livejournal.com 2009-12-27 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
... so I came here because it was drawn for someone on my friend's list.

AND I FIND YOU.

THISTLE WHY ARE YOU EVERYWHERE?

[identity profile] dramedy.livejournal.com 2009-12-27 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
I love this painting, it's so soft and serene. It's interesting to see an anime taken into realism. I quite like it :)

Beautiful! Awesome use of the classical inspiration. I particularly like the lighting on the little girl, and the look of concentration on her face.

[identity profile] thistle-chaser.livejournal.com 2009-12-28 05:00 am (UTC)(link)
How would I watch you when you sleep, when you eat, when you undress, if I weren't everywhere?

I love the complicated shadows and softnesses in this painting, with all the points of light coming to rest on the child and her task. There's a very strong sense of protection and safeness for how dark it is, which is so appealing and intriguing. Beautifully done!

[identity profile] chrismm.livejournal.com 2009-12-31 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
This is just gorgeous--the lighting is amazing. She's so intent, and he's so tender. And the contrast of her bright purple toes poking up--like even though her whole upper body is focused and still, some part of her has to fidget just a little--with the subdued flow of his green robes. Just lovely.

[identity profile] karasu-hime.livejournal.com 2009-12-31 05:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Cute! I like Gwendal!

[identity profile] ani-bester.livejournal.com 2010-01-01 04:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Dear god the lighting and the pose and the modeling of the colors and everything makes this look like a classic portrait out of the late Renn era.

And the subject is so touching. You did a reat job getting the expressions to look earnest yet tender.

Wow! Love this.

How sweet! I really like the painterly style.

[identity profile] glockgal.livejournal.com 2010-01-03 11:06 pm (UTC)(link)
So adorable! Love the interesting use of colours in this with the greens, purples and blues, yet the scene is still so comforting and homey, despite the cool palette. The lighting is great, because it really focuses my eyes right on her knitting skills! So bless!

[identity profile] dualbunny.livejournal.com 2010-01-04 05:07 am (UTC)(link)
What a neat idea! No idea who they are, but I love the style homage, and their expressions so much! :D

[identity profile] mscongeniality.livejournal.com 2010-01-04 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
That is utterly adorable and beautifully done.

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2010-01-04 03:29 pm (UTC)(link)
You're welcome! XD I knew I wanted to paint Gwendal as soon as I read the assignment, but it took a long time to work out what I wanted to do, and once I found Millet's The Knitting Lesson, I knew I had the picture. :D

(And since a lot of browsers seem to tank on the link above, here's another copy of Millet's picture (http://www.magatsu.net/pic3/Jean-Francois_Millet_-_The_Knitting_Lesson.jpg).)

[identity profile] rurounitriv.livejournal.com 2010-01-04 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, lovely. Has a certain Old-Masters feel to it. :)

[identity profile] gryfeathr.livejournal.com 2010-01-04 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
This is a lovely portrait, with an amazing use of pastiche. There's something very endearing here, and applying this technique to this image worked out great. Done lovely!

Oh wow, that's beautiful!

[identity profile] lady-ganesh.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
EEE I wondered if it might be you! Thanks again, SO MUCH. I don't think [livejournal.com profile] tinaeu came over to comment but when I showed it to her she was delighted to, so you have made many a KKM fan happy with this!

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 07:54 pm (UTC)(link)
XD I was fairly sure you'd ID my style.

[identity profile] lady-ganesh.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
I did have a bit of suspense simply because I didn't know the styles of...er, anyone else! There are advantages to not being a big part of the fanart community, apparently....

[identity profile] telophase.livejournal.com 2010-01-06 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
My original intention was to paint him realistically, like the Matt and Mello paintings, and I knew you'd figure it out at that point. XD That intention got siderailed when I realized how like a classical painting it was turning out, so went that direction.

[identity profile] moshesque.livejournal.com 2010-01-12 07:44 pm (UTC)(link)
This is utterly beautiful, wow. I love the dreamy quality of the painting and the colours are stunning. Just... wow! :D
