Artist: [livejournal.com profile] crowgirl13
Rating:: G
Fandom: The Sandman
Characters: Death [and a goldfish]

Artist notes: I fell in love with the idea of Death going to pet stores, to liberate a goldfish or two in time for the holidays. This was a lot of fun to create. I hope you enjoy it!
Summary: She's always been prone to taking in strays. There's something about winter that makes the urge impossible to ignore.

Oh, this is wonderful. You did such a good job! I really love the texture effect for the coat/boot trim.

Augh, this is so unbearably cool. I love the puffy purple mittens, so charming and so suitable to the character.

[identity profile] nasimjoon.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 01:33 am (UTC)(link)
Oh wow! This is awesome! The little details are so amazing. I love the goldfish!

[identity profile] melisus.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 01:36 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my, this is absolutely amazing! You've put so much detail on the little figurine! And I keep staring at the goldfish inside the bag... how did you do it?

My hat's off to you, mystery artist. This is such a cool work of art!

[identity profile] jenzay.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 01:45 am (UTC)(link)
Amazing, there's so much detailing! I mean, her hair, the coat and boot trimming, and even the little goldfish and the folds of cloth! Amazing~

Ooh, I love her coat! And the little goldfish is just adorable.

[identity profile] aybara-max.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
This is unbelievably cool! Death looks so playful yet mellow with her fur trimmed outfit and casually draped purple scarf (I love the ankhs at the ends!)... The effect with the fishy in the bag is impressive as well, you are so talented! Great job ♥

Oh, lovely. :D Such stunningly detailed work. I really like her contemplative pose and expression. The coat design's awesome too, and the ankhs on her scarf, and omg the goldfish! In a teeny-tiny plastic bag! Is that real water in there?

Wow!! Great work! I love the detail!

[identity profile] amkave.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 03:25 am (UTC)(link)
I love love LOVE this. From the expression on Death's face, to the teeny tiny goldfish. I adore the details of the ankh necklace, and the ankhs at the ends of the scarf (I love that the scarf is purple, because purple is my favorite color). I love that she is all dressed up for winter from her mittens to her boots, to the hooded coat. I'd love to know a bit more about your medium, as well as exactly how big she is.

I love that you have photographed her against a rad background, and she shows up so well. I like to believe Death chose to whimsically free the goldfish because of her younger sister's (Delirium) affinity for them.

Thank you thank you thank you for my gift art!

So so cool! Wow, the teeny goldfish in the bag... impressive. Can't wait until reveals to find out more about this/see any other mad cool stuff you may have created :)

Oh wow, this is so wonderful! First, props to you for doing a fanart sculpture! I am so seriously in awe of that. And it's such a neat, gorgeous sculpture as well! I love the Sandman books, and you captured Death so perfectly. Her outfit is fantastic (the MITTENS!), and I love the purple scarf with the ankh detailing on it. It seems like just the sort of thing she'd wear. And the goldfish! The itty bitty little goldfish in the bag! I have no idea how you did that, but it looks seriously cool.

Gorgeous job, artist!

Ooh, nifty. I really love the trim, and I'm very curious about how you did the goldfish in the bag!

[identity profile] bluelittlepig.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 04:08 am (UTC)(link)
I love the details that you put into it. The coat and boot trims are especially cool. And the goldfish! This is really wonderful!

I will have to get a better look when I get home (I'm looking on my BlackBerry), but from what I can see on my small screen this looks amazing!

[identity profile] wensleydale.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
Neat, it's always great to see 3-d stuff in Yuletart! I don't know how you did the goldfish bag, it's keen!

Oh my gosh, that's really creative! I love Death's outfit and the little goldfish of course :)

[identity profile] dualbunny.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
She's so cool! So many wonderful little details, and the resin/liquid for the fish is *such* a cool touch (and omg teeny adorable fish!)
ext_161: the character black canary, smiling. (canary grin)

[identity profile] nextian.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
Her expression is just right, and the fleece on the coat! Death, the Winter Edition! Man, the only goldfish this season who doesn't have to worry about being flushed when the excitement gets to it.

[identity profile] leochi.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 07:01 am (UTC)(link)
Lovely work! :)

Really very nice! The fish settled into the translucence is gorgeous, and it's fun to see Death in 3D!

[identity profile] kaiserkuchen.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 12:12 pm (UTC)(link)
This is seriously awesome and ahhh, the fish! Cute (and I agree with wanting to know how you made that happen :D)

[identity profile] ani-bester.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 02:25 pm (UTC)(link)
That s simply stunning. The detail you worked into it is incredible. I love the bits of white around her ankles and wrists, it really adds to the sculpture visually.

And oh wow, the Goldfish! What a great idea.
Wonderful wonderful job ^__^

[identity profile] zephre.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
wow, that is gorgeous. love the detailing on her cuffs and hood!
ext_872: eye with red flower petals as eyelashes (fry-approved!)

[identity profile] bossymarmalade.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 03:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, how pretty! The relaxed posture, the big boots and the ankh on the scarf, the notes of purple, the wry expression on her face!

The idea is adorable and the execution lovely; I especially like the way you've chosen to shape her nose, with a good broad bridge instead of a teensy practically nonexistent Barbie-style breathe-hole. It gives her face so much more *purpose* and strength, which I love because that was always my favourite thing about the character -- the way she could stand up to *anybody*, even (especially?) her siblings.

Wonderful work!

[identity profile] chrismm.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 04:25 pm (UTC)(link)
She's awesome! I love all the detail, the ankh on the scarf, and the goldfish. And the washes on her clothes and boots are very well-done--just enough to make the detail pop without weighing her down.

[identity profile] glockgal.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 05:03 pm (UTC)(link)
The details, man. I am so amazed with them and I love just scrolling through the different angles so I can be all "OH lookit that! And this! And hee, that's so cute!" I also love the pose you chose for her, like. A good sit after a long day, with her prize clutched in her mittened hand - you created a story here and that in and of itself GIVES ME SO MUCH JOY. :D

*claps lots*

[identity profile] chen-san.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 06:25 pm (UTC)(link)
It's just amazing!! Great job and an awesome gift ♥

[identity profile] karabou.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 08:42 pm (UTC)(link)
This is incredible! I especially love the way you've painted her eyes, and the goldfish - it looks real!

[identity profile] harbek.livejournal.com 2009-12-05 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah! Death! With a goldfish! Ah! It's amazing!

Eee, sculpture fanart! She's beautiful, and I am now also in love with the Death-liberates-goldfish idea. The goldfish (in its little bag!) is particularly cool, what a great piece :D
