Giftart for Yhlee!

Title: Dangerous Triptych
Gift for: [livejournal.com profile] yhlee
Artist: [livejournal.com profile] sae
Rating:: G
Fandom: Avatar: The Last Airbender
Characters: Ty Lee, Azula, Mai
Warnings: none
Artist notes: Hurray for the Dangerous Ladies! I know my style isn't standard Avatar-verse, so I decided to play off that and do something designed to be an artistic rendering of the ladies in question. It's only loosely inspired by historical styles, but I tried some new things and had some fun. I hope you enjoy!
Summary: Portrait series of Princess Azula and her entourage dating to the final years of Ozai. Artfully reconstructed to their original state and mounted on archival paper. Museum collection.

The way you composed these pieces is excellent--they all work individually, but put together they're just that much better! And you manage to capture all of their personalities in a style that, while not strictly avatar-esque, could easily exist in that place/time. Great job!

EXCELLENT, I love the acrobatic pose in the first frame, and the squigglylines coming from in her fingers in the second...oh and the wood texture in the last frame is especially nice.... WELL DONE!
ext_872: eye with red flower petals as eyelashes (what a glorious feeling)

I love triptychs, so this was a fantastic idea to use for the three friends! Posing each of them differently in the panels really adds a sense of movement and capturing-the-moment to the work. Great job!

They are so fantastic! I love how different they all look, but you've cleverly tied them together by the tonal use of warm, Fire Nation colours. I love Mai especially for some reason - her sidelong, bored glance is just so perfect! XD

Oh, excellent! I really like the style on this, and the colors you uses. I especially like Ty Lee - she's just so perfectly in character.

Nice triptech. What an interesting way to work your style into the series. I always struggle on how to do fanart for a visual show with it's own style and I think this is the most creative take on that I've ever seen.

I like hwo the figures in the panals are arranged. They really move the eye around.

I have hardly any knowledge of Avatar, but these are fantastic. The triptych style is one of my favorites in general, and these work together so well. The personalities coming through them are so distinct and unique--each expression is just full of details about the character. :}

Oh, this is fabulous! I love the design and the style.

Ooo, I'm terribly fond of art inspired by historical styles. I love these three ladies, and you've illustrated them fantastically.
