Wrap-Up!

And that's a wrap! [livejournal.com profile] yuletart posting is officially over for this season. *throws confetti*

In all, we've had some amazing 88 pieces of artwork depicting a whopping sixty-two(!!!) fandoms come through the month of January. For a first-time fest, this sort of participation was amazing and exciting. And we have all of you to thank. But first--

What Now?
~ Reveals will happen on Monday, February 4th 2008. ~

Over Friday and the weekend, it's the best time to browse the fanart you might have missed and hopefully leave the artists some feedback. Perhaps encourage your flist to do the same! We now have the posts organized by fandom for your convenience.

Also, between now and Monday, we will have a Guess Who? post, so that anyone can comment and try to guess which talented artist drew what piece of art. Whee!

Thank yous
First, thank you to everyone who participated. Without you, this fest would not have been possible. It was an incredible treat and honour to see so many fandoms represented through art!

Second, we would like to thank our wonderful pinch hitters: [livejournal.com profile] gardendoor, [livejournal.com profile] harbek, [livejournal.com profile] kittehkat, [livejournal.com profile] sandalstrap, [livejournal.com profile] sillyshy, [livejournal.com profile] telophase, [livejournal.com profile] tbranch and [livejournal.com profile] the_z give yourself a round of applause. We are so grateful for your hard work.

O! Third! We would love the thank the troopers who allowed us to regift your art for new people! Your art was so precious, and your understanding our need to regift? Made our lives infinitely easier.

And fourth, I think the Mods would like to thank each other, hehe. We made an incredibly good team and each mod took on tasks best suited for them, and it really worked out. Yay Yuletart Mods: [livejournal.com profile] bzzinglikeneon, for being such a great leader and decision-maker; [livejournal.com profile] itsbeenvery, for her tireless and cheerful admin work, ability to organize and provision of simple, easy fest infrastructure; and [livejournal.com profile] glockgal for acting as mod-participant liason!!

What we Mods learned
Oh boy did we learn a lot! This was the first all-fanart secret santa fest in fandom, and there were a lot of bumps and scratches - for both mods and participants. If this fest is to have a second run (which depends almost entirely on you!), there are a few policies we will be adding:

1) No art can be signed or posted in any way during the fest. This will be made clear from the beginning. Once the reveals are up, the artists are of course free to sign their art and post wherever they please.
2) Yuletart will start earlier. We aim to post the art during December, instead of January in order to keep in the holiday spirit.
3) We hope to assemble a roster of back-up artists, if it's plausible. This way, pinch hitting won't be such a panic.
4) Deadlines will be more strict; we will not be handing out extensions.
5) More reminders! I don't think the artists were reminded enough; leading to forgetfulness, leading to last-minute art/extensions, leading to Mods hyperventilating. Artists need more cowbell poking!

POLL! Give us your feedback
We would love your feedback on the fest! Also, we welcome all suggestions on how to make [livejournal.com profile] yuletart better for you.

EDIT: WTF the poll broke. The second question is supposed to say:
Based on your experience as both a secret santa and a gift-receiver, will you consider participating next year?

[Poll #1131116]

Do remember: we are volunteers. The mods are doing this for fandom fun and we are not being paid to do this. We welcome suggestions for improvement, not criticism. Please keep this in mind as you leave feedback!

Do you have more to say? by golly, post a comment, and let us know! For your comfort, comments are screened.

<3 to all of you, for true. Sixty-two fandoms!
